Branching off

From using ResEdit on Mac OS 7 to Game Genie on the Super Nintendo, as a kid I always enjoyed fucking with games & software – years later I found myself finding different ways to mess with technology and eventually started turning it into art, whether it be fractals, glitched out games or other forms of tech art.

Doing last month’s art show and actually showcasing my work in person was a big step for me. Not only was I proud to be featured, but I was always shy showing my work in person – it’s easy to post on Instagram & YouTube because I’m hiding behind a computer, but to do it face to face was a different story.

In an attempt to experiment and see what works, I have branched out onto different platforms and will continue to expand throughout the year – I now have a Patreon that offers art not found anywhere else along with other unique perks, a monthly mailing list to see what the fuck is up with me and a Society 6 storefront that features some random pieces.

Also set for this year – more progress with my VR fractal project, Chaos Theory VR, which will launch on Kickstarter with a small goal set. I’ll also be working on more interactive art experiments used in art shows / streaming and focusing on the media collaboration Discord & website.

I’m not ever going to stop being grateful for the people that came to the show, purchased art, supported me during this transition and really anyone that showed their love for my random crazy whatever-the-fuck-I-am-working-on projects. Thanks again! =D

Hungry artist? Fuck that!

I’m pretty adamant about happiness; of course one could say who doesn’t want to be in some beautiful state of Zen, right? But not everyone will go through the sacrifices and bullshit to achieve said bliss.

Many years ago I started making YouTube videos – which ranged from things like Dark Souls with a Steering wheel, to uniquely created music, to 360° equirectangular fractals, to me teaching a kid how to install a video card – pretty much a whole bunch of fun experimental videos [and some educational ones too]!

Like any content creator though, time and money were sacrificed; I’d spend ~8 hours a day [way more on weekends] working on content while working ~10 hour days at the job that actually paid the bills. Although I wasn’t exploding in subscribers, comments like “your music helped me through depression” really kept me going – though eventually I had to stop making videos since I wasn’t getting closer to my goal of making a living through content creation.

I feel that if you aren’t making content through your passion, it’s crap – so although I understand money isn’t everything, if you make a living creating things you love and doing the things you love, you’re going to have one amazing fucking life. This is what I was and still am striving for.


There are always going to be problems in life, of course, but with enough effort we get to choose which they are. I’d rather have the problem of “I need a way to figure out how this robot can launch Nerf darts with interactive controls” than “I need to finish this report for another meeting with the IT staff”.

In August 2016 I started work on a Kickstarter for my funky fractal VR videos, but I stopped once I landed on Mixer. I don’t regret the amazing interactive crazy stuff I’ve done on Mixer and the great fucking people I’ve met, but it did put a hold on my first steps towards making legitimate money from something I created.

At the start of 2017 I quit my job as a CTO of a medical software company and, after getting harassed for months because they didn’t know what they were doing, took a part-time remote position to help out. Most of 2017 was spent eating away at my savings though, to pursue streaming and create a whole slew of unique experiences – one which led to an awesome event at E3 involving robots and soccer.

The plan was to have one of the many companies I was working with take a greater interest in what I was doing, considering I’ve done some phenomenal shit. For the most part that never transpired and I was left having to move and sell some things in order to cut costs and continue to live. I do make money off Mixer & YouTube, but it’s definitely not enough to say, pay rent or more importantly, buy robot parts.


Although I stopped churning out YouTube videos after becoming a streamer – the experiments, at least art based, mostly lived on through my Instagram account. I’m glad I kept doing it though, because I’ve been hand-selected by RAW Artists to showcase my glitch artwork along with my interactive installations at their next showcase!

This was unexpected and got me super excited. I do have people that love my art, but it’s not like my Instagram account has that many followers; so yeah, I was super fucking surprised – especially considering they are willing to let me experiment with my crazy interactive ways at the venue.

In order to do all of this goodness though, I need to sell 20 tickets to help promote the event, which completely covers my cost of exhibiting / destroying the place – hence why any support would be immensely funking appreciated! The tickets are only 22 bitcoins – wait no, I mean $22, and need to be sold by February 14th in order for me to participate.

Even if you cannot simply attend, a ticket purchase would help support me towards a very important goal of mine and I would, in exchange, love you herpes-free, er, dearly. Every ticket sold, regardless if you come, grants you unlimited gratitude and a glitched photo – meaning, you send me whatever pic you want and I’ll freak it up good.

Now let’s talk about the event itself in case you actually make it out here to NYC. The event is 21+ and the dress code is cocktail attire [don’t come in that outfit from your Tinder session last Tuesday… or maybe you should…]. There are going to be local artists exhibiting art over a variety of genres and mediums including visual arts, photography, hair & make-up [not with robots], fashion, accessory design, music and performance art.

The event will be held at Melrose Ballroom in Queens (36-08 33rd St, Astoria, NY 11106), Wednesday February 21st 2018 from 7:00PM-11:00PM. Yes, there will be booze – and we’ll go grab some tacos after!


What’s the end goal of all this? Network with other artists, the 808+ attendees and facilities on collaborative interactive installations, gain artist exposure, sell enough art to cover the cost of living & inspire people.

With all that happiness pouring in from what I’ll be doing, I can then invest back into my streams and do the weekly series I want to do – like viewer controlled battlebots and other silly viewer controlled challenges.

And like I said before – 2018 is turning out to be a great year already.

Bitchin’ Glitchin’

So I’m back to my glitching ways, at least for the time being, and am currently running a datamosh series of random media from Instagrammers. So far there’s this, this and this one.

My next two goals is to make super high resolution pixelsorting using Processing and to do live glitching via the webcam, while streaming a mix live on Twitch or YouTube; lovely.

Besides that, there are other methods I’ve been messing with which are listed below; funk yeah.




I would love to make a dedicated machine for glitching, but I will only build it if I see a “market” for it. Hmm.. =D

Datamoshing A Christmas Story

I always fall in love with various ways to funk up media – so when I came across a datamoshed video, I wondered how I do the same.

After doing some research, I found the best method was to use Eddy’s guide found here. He actually has a download pack with some presets that can be loaded onto AviDemux – the program used to glitch these videos.

Here was my process:
1. Load videos wanting to be funked with in Premiere Pro
2. Cut them in a way that works best for datamoshing
3. Export as an uncompressed UYVY avi
4. Load video onto AviDemux 2.5.6
5. Export as MPEG4 ASP (Xvid) using one of the five presets
6. Close project in AviDemux
7. Load exported video back into AviDemux
8. Find and remove all i-frames except the first one
9. Save the video as a Copy in AviDemux
10. ??
11. Trip out

AviDemux does have its faults though, but you have to work around it. Every time a project is saved, the application crashes – and the project itself leaves no file extension, so you’ll have to open the program and go through the menus to actually open it up [it would help if I knew which extension it used]. It also kept crashing at random points of erasing i-frames – but that’s more understandable.

I did make a macro script that sped up the process of erasing i-frames though – and this definitely helped for the ~11 minute video I just did; add this to your AutoHotkey script, reload it and use CTRL + H to find and remove the next i-frame.
